The track jacket had a long run as a casualwear afterthought and a lot of brands still treat it that way. Thin polyester, sloppy zip pull, a logo placement that seems chosen by accident. The tricot lined version is where things get more interesting, because that interior brushed knit changes everything about how the jacket moves and feels against a layer. It adds enough weight to give the piece real structure without pushing it into outerwear territory. What we were looking for here were jackets where the tricot detail is doing genuine work, not just listed in the spec sheet. The collar needs to sit right. The front zip needs to close cleanly over a crewneck. The sleeves should taper enough to look considered with a slim trouser.
