Most t-shirts fail in one of two ways. They’re either cut so slim that the fabric pulls across the chest and rides up by noon, or they’re so oversized that you look like you borrowed something from a larger relative. Neither is what we’re after here. A relaxed t-shirt done right has a little room through the body without looking shapeless, a sleeve that sits at the right point on the arm, and a hem length that works whether you tuck it or leave it out. The fabric matters too. Something with enough weight to drape properly rather than clinging or floating. We’ve been looking specifically at pieces that photograph as casual but read as considered in person, the kind you reach for without thinking and still look like you made an effort. Neck construction is something we pay close attention to because a collar that loses its shape after three washes ruins everything else the shirt had going for it. These hold up.
