Cargo trousers spent a long time in fashion purgatory and most of that was deserved. The early 2000s version, wide as a marquee and covered in pockets at the worst possible height, did real damage to the category. But the modern cotton cargo is a different thing entirely. Cleaner lines, slimmer through the thigh, with pockets that are actually placed well enough to use without turning you into a human storage unit.
