The regular fit blazer has a bad reputation mostly because so many of them get the proportions completely wrong. Too boxy and it looks like you borrowed it from someone larger. Too structured and it fights your body instead of working with it. The sweet spot is a blazer that has enough room to layer comfortably, sits correctly across the shoulders, and doesn't bunch or pull when you button it. That sounds simple. It is surprisingly hard to find. We've been specifically looking at blazers that work for men who don't want a slim fit but also don't want to look like they've given up on fit entirely. The kind of piece that works over a rollneck in winter or an open collar shirt in summer. Fabric matters here too. A good mid weight wool or wool blend will hold its shape through a full day in a way that cheaper constructions simply won't. These are the ones that get it right.
