The fully lined blazer has its place, but that place is not a July wedding, a dinner where the room runs hot, or any situation where you need a jacket that actually moves with you. Unlined blazers solve a specific problem and solve it well. The construction is lighter, the drape more relaxed, and when the fabric is right you get something that looks intentional rather than like a compromise. The issue is that a poorly made unlined blazer just looks unfinished. The internal structure still matters. So does the canvas, if there is one, and the way the chest sits without a full lining doing the heavy lifting for it. We’ve been looking at options that wear through summer and into early fall without wilting, and that dress up or down without asking too much of you. Some are classic in cut. Some lean more casual.
