Embroidered Denim Shirts That Look the Part

Embroidery on denim is one of those details that either looks considered or looks like a costume, and the difference is almost entirely in the execution. Placement matters. Scale matters. Whether the stitching feels like it belongs to the shirt or was added as an afterthought matters enormously. We've been looking specifically at shirts where the embroidery earns its place rather than just announcing itself, the kind of piece that reads as personal taste rather than festival merchandise. These work best worn open over a white tee, or buttoned up with the sleeves rolled and a clean pair of trousers underneath. Not trying too hard. Not blending into the background either. That middle ground is exactly where good denim shirting lives. What we found is that the best examples tend to use tonal or restrained color work rather than maximalist designs, and the denim itself is always substantial enough to hold its shape. We kept only the ones worth wearing twice a week.
