The hoodie has a bad reputation in certain circles and we think that reputation is mostly undeserved. The problem was never the garment itself. It was the oversized fleece-lined version that looked fine at nineteen and increasingly difficult to explain at thirty-five. A well made hoodie in the right weight, with a clean cut and a proper fit through the chest and shoulders, is one of the most useful things you can own. It works with tailored trousers and clean sneakers as easily as it works with jeans. We've been looking specifically at options where the fabrication does the heavy lifting. French terry, loopback cotton, midweight jersey. Things that drape properly and don't pill after four washes. Color matters too and we've leaned toward tones that sit well with the rest of a considered wardrobe rather than fighting against it. These are hoodies that look like you thought about it, without looking like you tried too hard.
